Always looking at my surrounding countryside anew. Here is my latest attempt at bringing my local village alive in a vibrant and emotional way.Dev 5

Dev 1I’ve painted this on canvas board in acrylic paints from memory. I do enjoy creating work from a mixture of realism and imagination to develop a different look and feel to the work.

A Born Artist

11th May

Dali4Salvador Dalí was born on this day in 1904 and was aDali1 prominent Spanish surrealist painter born in Figueres, Catalonia, Spain. What is left to say! Known the world over as an artist who brought the subconscious to us through his adherence to realism.

Dali3In 1922 Dalí  began studying at the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando in Madrid with a crowd that were to be later distingushed in their own fields, namely Pepín Bello, Luis Buñuel, and Federico García Lorca. Wow what a team!Dali2

Do what you do and listen to no-one. Add wet paint to paint and figure it out yourself. Sorry I can not be a help. We all do what we have to do. Pain or love the result is the result.facep2 thumbChar1.21

Easter St Peter

St Peter I

St Peter I

This Easter I paint Saint Peter. According to the New Testament  he was a leader of the early Christian Church and the first Pope, ordained by Jesus if Matthew is correct. Today we have the Vatican City as his legacy from the ruins of the Roman Europe.

St Peter III

St Peter III

Peter was crucified in Rome, under the rule of Nero, upside down as he requested, as he believed himself unworthy of a replica death of Jesus.

Whilst heavily influenced by Caravaggio I have attempted my own version of his death this Easter. I have focused on representing his face, upside down, as a symbol of the cross and using blue to reflect his fisherman’s roots.
